Why data evaluation is so important

Imagine you, the scientist, wanting to cultivate a new cell line.

You already know the optimal external parameters for cell cultivation from the manufacturer. You carry out some preliminary tests and see under the microscope that the cells are vital.

As usual, you have also created a protocol for general cultivation, which your colleague has also checked and approved.

So you're going to start doing the essential experiments.

 

How can you be sure that the external conditions (e.g. pH value of the medium, light, temperature and humidity in the incubator) were constantly the same and thus representative in the time of the preliminary tests?

PROBLEMS ARISE

You continue to treat and examine the cells. In the beginning the experiment series works and you get evaluable results, but in the following weeks the results get worse and worse up to the point where an evaluation is no longer possible.
